You can ask our team any questions you have, and we will talk through your medical history, and then set up the next appointment to suit you.
Step 2
Your initial appointment and scan
You will come to our clinic and we’ll carry out an internal (transvaginal) ultrasound scan to check your egg reserve, as well as blood and urine tests to check your hormone levels and screen for any conditions that might prevent you donating. We will also talk you through the possible side effects and risks of going through treatment. We’ll contact you in a few days with the results, and if you meet the criteria to donate, we will invite you to join our donor programme.
At this stage you will be offered the chance to speak to an independent specialist counsellor. It’s important you are fully aware of and comfortable with the donation process, so we will be with you at every step the answer any questions you have.
Step 3
Getting ready
The next stage is the treatment consultation. Here one of our experienced team will talk you through the medication you’ll need and show you how to use it.
Step 4
Your donation cycle
On the first day of your next period, you’ll call us to arrange for the scans you’ll need to monitor your cycle. You’ll take stimulation hormone injections to mature eggs in your ovaries.
Step 5
Donating your eggs
We’ll monitor you carefully with scans and blood tests, and plan with you when the egg collection procedure will happen. On the day, you’ll need to:
- • Fast for a few hours before the procedure, which we carry out at our clinic.
- • Be sedated for a short time, while we collect your eggs.
- •You’ll be able to return home after a short rest. Most women do experience some abdominal discomfort after the procedure. You will need to bring a friend/family member with you to escort you home afterwards.
Step 6
After egg donation
After your donation, we will let you know how many eggs we were able to collect and invite you to write a pen picture of yourself and a goodwill message for the recipient of your egg.
Your eggs will then be stored, until they are matched to a recipient. At the end of your donation cycle, when everything is complete, you’ll receive £750 in compensation to cover your time and any expenses incurred over the course of the donation process.
