Our donors are just like you
We have met hundreds of amazing women who have successfully fulfilled our criteria and want to donate. Our donors come from all walks of life, but what they all have in common is the desire to help other women.
There is a huge demand for egg donors in the UK and all donor eggs are very gratefully received. Egg donation in the UK is carefully regulated to protect everyone involved, and we want to make sure it’s right for you. If you’re thinking about donating, you’ll need to meet some basic criteria:
- you must be in good health, with a clear medical history and no genetic or hereditary disorders (such as Type 1 Diabetes)
- aged 18 to 35 years old – with a good ovarian reserve
- your BMI should be between 19 and 28
- you have been a non-smoker for at least last 3 months (including vaping)
While the donation procedure is straightforward, we understand that it’s still a big decision.
You’ll need to be sure you’re able to attend clinic appointments, take medication and be happy to go through our screening checks. You will also be offered independent specialist counselling.
You should also be comfortable with the idea that children born of donor eggs have the right to find out some information about their donor when they turn 16, and further detail when they turn 18.
If you’ve donated before, then you can still donate with us. Regulations in the UK mean each donor can create a maximum of ten families. At The Egg Bank, we advise each donor should not look to go through a treatment cycle more than 3 times within a lifetime.
